Aubry turned 13 the 24th of January. For years she and I have talked about going on a special Mommy/Daughter vacation when she turned 13. The time was here before I knew it. I was able to keep it a secret for the longest time and told only a few people. I packed her bags and put them in the trunk while she was at school and then had mom drop us off at the airport after her birthday dinner. She was so clueless what was going on. She was very excited with a grin from ear to ear! We had a wonderful time and it was great to have that one on one with just she and I.

I WENT TO SILVER DOLLAR CITY FOR MY BIRTHDAY WITH MY PARENTS, MY GIRLS AND NIECE BAILEY. POOR ABBY WAS AT THE START OF WHAT BECAME AN AWFUL FEVER BLISTER. IT WAS A COLD NIGHT, BUT WE STILL ENJOYED IT. KIDS GOT TO RIDE ON A FEW RIDES. WE HAD A GOOD GUN MATCH IN THE LOST MINE. AND I HAVE TO AGREE...HE LOOKED LIKE THE PERFECT SANTA TO ME. IT IS SO PEACEFUL TO WALK AROUND THERE AT NIGHT AND LOOK AT ALL THE BEAUTIFUL LIGHTS.

2009 Labor Day at Roaring River & Bonfire w/ Friends & Family

We didn't have a successful year again at Roaring River even though I went around last year trying to get all the tips and tricks from the Pro Fishermen there. We caught 1 fish. Looks like it was one of the Mayne kids again this year. The kids still have a good time trying and swimming in the river.
Later that night we went to the Rasmussen's for a Bar B Q where they had a live band, bonfire and fun things to do for the kids. It is always nice getting together on these holidays with friends and family to bond and enjoy one another's company.

FUN DAY IN BRANSON WITH GRAMMY AND PAPA

We had a fun day in Branson with my Family. We ate at Andy's custard, rode bumper boats and got soaked, raced go carts on the track (very competitive), rode the kiddie rides and the girls did the SKYCOASTER! It was a 150 ft swing they pulled you up in the air and then when you let go you fly back and forth in the air. It was crazy! Emily got to pull the cord when they told her to. They would count and then you would pull the cord and drop. I can't believe she didn't seem to even hesitate. All the kids ended the night on a little kiddie ride where the worker asked if you wanted to spin. He would spin them SO hard as they went buy. They thought that was so much fun they did it again. What was funny is that they smiles all went away on the way home as they became nauseous. It was a fun time.

Fun Trip to St. Louis with the Silva Family

The girls and I went to St. Louis a few weeks ago. I had a wonderful experience in the Temple running into a good friend I had not seen in a few years. It gave me a lot to think about that day. I was reminded how the Lord works in myserious ways. She missed her session by just a few mins and we had decided to go to the 11am session instead of the 8am or else we would of ran into eachother. It was a hard session as I learned her husband had left her and watched her hurting and weeping. I was reminded I was in her shoes just a few years ago. That hurt is an awful hurt. At the same times I was glad to be reminded of those same feeling back then and see how much I have grown these last few years. My life just keeps getting better.
Later, after the Temple, we took the kids to the Boat House. That was a good time. We went on a paddle boat ride, got to see where the World's Fair use to be, visited Fitz bottling company and saw how they bottle the soda, and just enjoyed seeing some other things around St. Louis. We had a great time Sunday going to Church and then spending time at the Silva's afterwards just enjoying friendships. Great time!

MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK

We had a wonderful trip to Manuel Antonio National Park. We had a nice drive and stopped at a factory where they make palm oil from the fruits of the tree. We also got to stop at fun little fruit stands where we had interesting fruit and fresh coconut milk. Once we got to the park I ran into a very nice couple from "Branson Missouri". We walked along a trail taking pictures of red crabs, sloths, monkeys, and iguanas. The beach had beautiful white sand and we had a nice break resting on it. We got to enjoy watching a monkey sneak a person's bag of sunchips and head back up a tree fighting with the others who came jumping from all over. It was like Tarzan where the monkeys all of a sudden appeared from behind all the trees. It was very neat to have wildlife so close while out of cages. We headed back home and stopped at a fun little place to eat and enjoyed some yummy shrimp and rice, fresh smoothie, and dessert. Then we got to enjoy a fun downpour on the ride home. Great day!

We had an ocean view with balcony. The pool was amazing and a branch of forever trails you could spend time swimming all around. Night swimming was the greatest. The people from there were so kind and always friendly. We got to know some of them very well. We had breakfast downstairs every morning and I looked forward to a different menu everyday. I didn't get so much the breakfast as I LOVED the homemade taquitos, rice and black beans, tostadas, Tamales with chicken & wrapped in banana leaves, chips and shredded meats with homemade guacamole and pico de gallo. I tasted things to try and was floored when I ate what was like a fried banana stuffed with cheese. Different, but one thing I can say doesn't go as well with cheese. The cheese was yummy though. The fruit was the best I have ever had. Especially the tropical. I feel in love with fresh fruit smoothies as the other Americans got tanked and passed out by the pool and on dirty bathroom floors...."no thank you!" We would enjoy going to Jaco a near by little town and there we found some fun places to eat. The taco bar was fun, but we think D got food poison there from the vegetables. She was not doing well AT ALL that night and next day. It was a fun place and had these swings you could sit in around th bar. I had my first fish tacos at Bubba's. They were very good.
One day we went to Jaco for the Billabong World Surfing Games. That was an experience. It was a huge walk with everyone and their brother up the mountain because a 10min drive was taking people an hour and a half so we walked it. It had black sand and was beyound crowded. So you were pushed out towards the water walking because people were stand all around the beach drinking and watching the surfing. So next thing we know the waves are taking people out and there are flip flops EVERYWHERE. So I start picking them up and flinging them back to shore yelling "De Nada". Then my cousin asked where my shoes were....I lost them helping everyone else. I had them strapped to my bag and they came off I guess. Well that walk home didn't look good so as we were walking back we decided to hop in the back of some strangers big red truck with all the mexicans who didn't speak a lick of english. But they were getting in and so were we. This nice guy took us back to town and down that huge mountain. Lifesaver...not safe on my part, but I am alive.

I can not put into words how much I loved the zip-line through the rainforest! It was one of the most amazing feelings. We also got to do some repelling and swinging like Tarzan from canopy to canopy. I recommend it for sure!

We got to go horseback riding in the Costa Rican Mountains and experience a killer hike. I loved it though I have never sweat so much in my life. How neat to see the waterfalls. We stopped and went swimming part way and the water was so refreshing. We had so much fun with the horses taking off, getting to see all the beautiful mountains, waterfalls, the wildlife, and so much more. It was truly awesome. Getting to jump into the waterfalls was a blast. I still am in shock I got to enjoy such an awesome vacation like this!

Jumping into the waterfalls was so much fun. The water was so refreshing after the killer hike. Such a great day!

THIS WAS AN INTERESTING TRIP. IT WAS A WAYS OUT IN MARSHFIELD AND WHEN WE GOT THERE ONE OF THE FRONTIER CHARACTERS SCARED ME WITH SHOUTING AT ME "THIS IS THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH". IT WAS NOT SURPRISE THAT HE LOVED HIS JOB AND ACTED OUT THE CHARACTER TOO WELL. I COULDN'T HELP BUT THINK HE GOT THAT LINE FROM DISNEYLAND AND EMILY'S TEACHER ALSO SAID UNDER HER BREATH NOT TO TAKE AWAY FROM DISNEY'S THUNDER. ANYWAY, THE KIDS HAD A GOOD TIME LEARNING OF THE WEAPONS, HOW TO MAKE A FIRE (I MIGHT TRY OUT FOR SURVIVOR NOW), HOW TO TELL ABOUT AN ANIMAL FROM THEIR SKULL AND TEETH (GUY INFORMED US HE COLLECTS A LOT OF ROAD KILL AND I COULD SMELL IT! :) THEY GOT TO SEE HOW TO MAKE INDIAN HEADS, THROW HATCHETS, CLIMB, MAKE CANDLES, HOW THEY BUILT HOMES, WENT ON A HAYRIDE, ACT OUT THE HATFIELDS AND MCCOYS WITH A WATER FIGHT, AND DIDN'T GET TO PAN THE GOLD, BUT WAS ABLE TO FIND SOME BY THE CREEK. IT WAS A FUN DAY WITH EMILY!

O.K. So I ask Aubry to start Abby's bath for me the other day. She comes out all smiles and says she is going to hop in the tub with Abby. Kinda different... I hear them laughing and I go back to my bathroom to find the tub FULL of BUBBLES. I got the camera and by this time Emily was beside me and I could tell she wanted in there. TOO OLD TO TAKE BATHS TOGETHER? NOOOO! I told Emily to hop on in and I watched them giggle and laugh like they were all still my little girls. No, I didn't hop in!

Legend Of The Leprechauns

Full of magic and trickery, the leprechauns remain in their hidden world until the night before St. Patrick's Day. On that one night of the year they appear throughout the world to dance and sing and frolic.

Disguising themselves as leaves and grass, and sounding like the wind and the crickets, they come and go unnoticed.

However,it is said that if a decorated treasure box is left empty under the moon, the leprechauns must fill the box with gold or jewels or gifts. But then they will hide the filled box in the most unlikely of places.

If the box is found on St. Patricks's Day, the treasure remains in our world. If not, the leprechauns may retrieve what is rightfully theirs. And though the leprechauns are very clever, it is not impossible to find the treasure because, unknowingly, leprechauns often leave a trail of greenery or treasure behind them.

So Abby decorated her treasure box. That next morning she came to me so excited...but VERY VERY NERVOUS! She held my hand following the trail all giddy, but yet stand backish. She saw that the trail led to the pantry and asked for me to open it up. It was so funny because she was so excited saying "I bet the treasure is in there...open it Mom!" as she stepped back. I realized then (from her comments) that she thought the Leprechaun might still be in the pantry. She had a nervous giggle as she waited for me to open the door. When the door opened and she saw her box she opened it to find a treasure of earrings, gold (rolos...yummy!)and some Tinker Bell Underoos. It was a fun time!

The Chicks are growing SOOO fast! They are getting their feathers in nicely. Had a friend that came over the other day. Her daughter shows chickens and ducks...maybe FFA or 4H. Anyway, she looks at their bottoms and says they look real good. They don't have dirty butts and that I guess shows that they don't carry this "disease"

The girls always dress up for the holiday theme. Missed Aubry's this year, but Emily posed for me.

The girls were sweet to give me gifts. They made me homemade cards with their picture, gave me a box of Chocolates and Aubry surprised me with Chocolate covered Strawberries...Yummy!

We enjoy making a special colored dinners for Valentines and St. Patty's Day. You can guess that for Valentines we shoot for a Red & Pink theme.
This year the girls were in charge. They made spaghetti, salad (upset that the french was more orange this year), strawberry fluff, and french toast with red butter. Oh, and fruit punch. They wanted Strawberry milk, but we were out of milk.
